Trash and retention
Updated Aug 31, 2026
Deleting something in Docs moves it to the trash along with everything inside it.
Restoring
Restoring a folder brings back everything that went in with it.
When it is permanent
After 30 days in the trash, an item is deleted for good, along with any uploaded file behind it. This cannot be undone.
