Create your organization
Updated Sep 25, 2026
GIG is invite-only. There is no public sign-up page — you cannot create an account on your own. Someone sends you an invitation, and accepting it is what creates your account; from there, the onboarding steps create your organization. If you don't have an invitation, leave your address on the request form at the bottom of the GIG marketing site — an operator reviews it and decides whether to send one.
Accept your invitation
- Open the invitation link you were sent. If you were already signed in as someone else in this browser, that session ends automatically — the invitation always starts a fresh one.
- Select Accept invitation →. An invitation can only be opened once, so only press it when you're ready to continue.
- Choose a password (6 characters minimum) and select Create password. The number-and-symbol checklist line underneath is a suggestion, not a requirement — it never blocks submission.
- Select Continue setup → to move on to onboarding.
If the invitation says it's expired or already opened, one of two things is true: you already opened it before, in which case your account exists and you should select Set a password to recover it instead of asking for a new invitation — or you never opened it, in which case ask whoever invited you for a fresh link.
Set up your organization
Onboarding is one form. Your name is the only required field on this part — a headshot, phone number and mailing address can all be added here or left for later from your profile.
Under setup path, choose one of three options:
- I am a Freelancer — creates your personal GIG profile only, with no organization.
- Join an Organization — links you to an organization you already have a 16-character code for. Use this instead if someone gave you a code rather than sending you an invitation.
- Create an Organization — this is the option that creates a new organization.
Choosing Create an Organization opens a second set of fields: your organization's name, phone number, address, city, province or state, postal code and country. Discipline and crew size are optional and describe the kind of work you do — GIG uses them nowhere else in this flow.
Select Complete setup → to finish.
What exists immediately
Your organization exists the moment you select Complete setup → on the Create an Organization path — on the Free plan, with you as its owner. You do not need to pick a paid plan or enter payment details to start using it, and closing the browser at any later point in onboarding still leaves a working Free organization behind. Signing back in takes you straight to your command center — not back into the wizard. If you had picked a paid plan without finishing checkout, a banner there offers Finish checkout, which opens Settings → Billing, or Stay on the free plan.
Choose a plan
Next, onboarding asks you to Pick your plan, before you ever reach your organization. Choose Monthly or Annual · 2 months free, and each card shows that plan's price, team seats, limits and payments fee — Plans and seats explains them. Every paid plan is one price for the whole organization, however many of its team seats you use. Organization can't be bought here: its card links to Talk to us about Organization, because that plan is set up with GIG.
- Select a plan's card. Paid cards name any discount that applies, and the card you select states what you'll be charged today, less that discount.
- Select Continue. The button repeats today's amount.
- Check the dates the charge covers, then select Pay. Stripe's secure checkout opens in a popup window — your card details go to Stripe directly and never pass through GIG.
When the payment lands, onboarding takes you straight into your organization. The charge is the plan's price for your first month, or your first year on annual billing. Renewals then land on the 1st of the month on or after that period ends, and the days in between are free.
To stay on Free, select the Free card and then Start on Free. If you picked a paid plan, Skip for now — start on the free plan leaves your organization on Free, and closing the payment window without paying charges nothing. If you leave onboarding without paying, the Finish checkout banner on your command center lets you pay later.
Comp codes
If you have a comp code, enter it on the setup form before selecting Complete setup →, then select Check code to see what it does before you submit. A full comp code skips the plan-selection step entirely; a percentage comp code is applied automatically at checkout when you pick a plan. Leaving the field blank is fine — setup works either way.
