Field types
Updated Aug 31, 2026
A column's type decides how its values are entered, displayed and sorted.
Changing a type
Retyping a column does not convert the values already stored. The cells stay exactly as they are and the new type decides how they are read — so a column flipped to Number shows its unparseable cells blank, and flipping it back brings them straight back. Nothing is destroyed by changing your mind.
